Tomi Adeyemi brings West African flare to her fantasy debut novel. The Children of Blood and Bone tells the tale of Zelie Adebola and her home of Orisha. This community heavily relied on the use of magic throughout their daily and spiritual lives, until one day the malevolent king exterminated the use of magic altogether. As evil creeps into the lands, Zelie must escape and outmaneuver the king at his own game to restore peace.

The Female Persuasion by Meg Wolitzer

With empowerment emanating from every page, Meg Wolitzer creates the perfect blend of feminism and coming-of-age in her powerful novel. The Female Persuasion is keenly titled due to advice from a woman named Faith Frank to Greer Kadetsky – the main character. Greer is struggling between maintaining her relationship and discovering her true inner ambition, hoping Faith can lend assistance. Faith, an older woman who has led the women’s movement for some time, decides to inspire hope and clarity in young Greer. She helps the young college student define what is truly meant to be in the life of a woman and Greer herself. The book is scheduled for release in April 2018.
